County assessors may have accredited appraisers assist with the valuation of advisory appraisals. To participate in this program, appraisers must apply for accreditation certification which requires specific training requirements.
For more information, visit the Valuation advisory, Accreditation, and WACs.
Certification
To establish your certification:
- Earn 30 CE hours from pre-approved courses identified by your county’s assigned specialist
- Track appraisal activities;
- Attend the IAAO 102 Income Approach to Valuation course and pass the exam; and
- Complete the Application for Continuing Education Credits: Advisory Appraisals (Form 61 0062)
Note: Hours earned from assisting with Advisory Appraisals cannot be used toward the Department of Licensing’s real estate appraiser continuing education requirements.
Renewals
Accreditations must be renewed every two years. Appraisers are responsible for tracking when they are due. To avoid a break in certification, which may invalidate your appraisals, please email your application at least two weeks before the end date of your current “valid through” period.
To renew your accreditation:
- Earn 15 CE/GI hours from pre-approved courses taken during the last two years;
- Apply 15 CE/GI hours to your application with:
- 3 GI max
- 5 CE max from reported but un-applied/leftover hours from your renewal two years ago (optional)
- Complete the Application for Accreditation Renewal (Form 64 0083); and
- Attach certificates of attendance for all courses submitted
If the last renewal you submitted was over two years ago:
- Earn 30 CE/GI hours from pre-approved courses taken during the last two years; and
- Complete the Application for Accreditation as an Ad Valorem Real Property Appraiser (Form 64 0081)
